Mulberry Silk Saree | Design Theme: Suchona

Khunti Puja’s are a regular sight before the pandals are built. Drawing inspiration from this precursor Bandhuli Boutique unveils the Suchona Sari which is a tribute to the Khunti Pujas.

The sari depicts the Rath or the chariot on its aanchal which signifies the foundation of the Puja pandal. The sari, itself has several motifs which are related to the Durga Puja and is a complete reflection of Bengal’s rich culture and heritage. The colour palette comprises charismatic blues, whites, and greens which are symbols of the ground and the sky as the festival arrives. It also includes the Shiuli flower which upholds the essence of the occasion.

"The Suchona Sari is not just a piece of clothing but a heartfelt tribute to the enthralling age-old tradition of Khunti Puja, a celebration of our cultural heritage. We have tried to pay homage to the time-honoured practice of Kathamo Puja and the revered tradition of Khunti Puja."

Kotha draped herself in the exquisite Steel Grey Mulberry Silk Saree from Bandhuli’s latest collection, standing poised under the soft studio lights. This was no ordinary saree—it was the Suchona Sari, a tribute to the sacred Khunti Puja, the first step in building Durga Puja pandals.

The saree’s aanchal bore the majestic Rath, symbolizing the festival’s foundation. Motifs of Shiuli flowers, the vast sky, and the sacred ground came alive in blues, whites, and greens, encapsulating the spirit of Durga Puja. As Kotha gracefully adjusted her pallu, the photographer captured the saree’s intricate craftsmanship—a visual ode to Bengal’s rich traditions.

With each pose, she felt connected to the legacy it honored. "This isn’t just fabric; it’s a story woven in silk," she mused. As the final shot was taken, the team knew Suchona Sari had truly brought the essence of Khunti Puja to life.
